Matt Matros Ponders Poker
In this episode I speak with Matt Matros, poker pro, WSOP bracelet winner x3, author and general all-round decent fellow. Throughout the discussion Matt covers a variety of poker and poker pro issues. He discusses his journey from player to pro, his book(s), an idea of his tournament preparation and more. From a big WPT win in 2004, he has continued his poker player prowess and progress winning bracelets in 2010, 2011 and 2012. I met Matt at a charity event last month where we were seated at Table 2 together and played for a number of hours. Through our chit chatting at that event I found Matt to be both friendly, intelligent, humble and easy-going. There's no doubt in my mind that you'll enjoy what Matt has to say about a wide variety of poker topics.
Matt is the author of 'The Making of a Poker Player'. I'll read from the book in an upcoming episode of Poker Reads.
As a coach for Card Runner you may be quite familiar with Matt's coaching and strategy work. He also coaches players individually. Find Matt's website at www.MattMatros.com and on twitter @Matt_Matros.
Music by Al Phillips and the Woo Team, Reasonably Well Occupied.

Poker Reads 41: Hand Odds and Money Management (How to Win by M. Goodman)
In this Poker Reads episode I read from an old book from my bookshelf called How to Win by Mike Goodman. The book was first written in 1963 and covers many forms of gambling including blackjack, dice, roulette and horse racing. The book also includes a short chapter on hand odds for both five card stud and five card draw - that's one of the two chapters I read. The other chapter is on Money Management. Music courtesy of the Mevio Music Alley and the Podsafe Music Network. Songs include Chocolate Box by Played all the Wrong Games and So Big F Warning by Acide 42. Enjoy!

Poker Reads 37: Winners Act Decisively (Schoonmaker)
In this episode I read from the book 'Winners Are Different' by Alan N. Schoonmaker, Ph.D. In the first part of this short podcast I read from the chapter Winners Act Decisively. Next I read from a section in the book that provides a review of each chapter. Dr. Shchoonmaker provides a statement is provided as an affirmation. In the book the reader is to rate themselves on the truthfullness of the statement. With these statements, try to repeat the affirmation to yourself. The first few affirmations I rush through, so you may want to stop the podcast and remain with an affirmation for a longer time. For more information on each affirmation, refer to the book. A whole chapter is written on each of these issues. Music by Dawn T., Ecstacy, courtesy of the Mevio Music Alley. Contact me at Mary@Ponderingpoker.com or @PonderingPoker.

Poker Reads 34: Final Table (J. Duhamel)
Mary reviews and reads from Jonathan Duhamel's soon to be released book Final Table: A Winning Poker Approach from a WSOP Champion. It's a mature, informative book about Jonathan's approach to the game. It appeals to me and I'd recommend it for anyone that loves the game of poker and has the desire to become good at the game. The chapter I read from is called Perseverance and it makes the case for dedicated study. The chapter on Creativity is awesome. Music courtesy of the Mevio Music Alley.
